We are looking for a hands-on Senior Backend Engineer to join our distributed Encourage 4 Educators team, where you will help modernize our product suite alongside a talented group of developers in an agile, collaborative environment.

What you'll be doing

• Collaborate with product and engineering leads to drive the development of web applications, mobile apps, and GraphQL microservices.
• Take a lead role in designing system architecture while continuously refactoring and improving our codebase to ensure high performance.
• Mentor team members, participate in code reviews, and foster a team-centric culture that prioritizes technical excellence and proactive problem-solving.

What you'll bring

To be successful in this role, you should be a proactive communicator who is comfortable working in an iterative, scrum-based environment. We are looking for the following qualifications:

• A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in full-stack software development.
• Strong proficiency with NodeJS and GraphQL, with a preference for NestJS and Apollo Federation.
• At least 2 years of experience working with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and SQL databases.
• Experience with TypeScript, React, and Python.
• Advanced skills in Docker and local development environment setup.
• A passion for building robust, scalable systems and an intellectual curiosity that keeps you current with emerging technologies.
• Fluency in English.
