Senior Backend Engineer at AKKO

What you bring

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This role is remote and open to applicants anywhere, provided you can work during our core hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm EST. You will be instrumental in building the systems that power our platform while working with a modern stack including Python, Flask, PostgreSQL, and Google Cloud Platform. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable back end systems and APIs that prioritize performance and reliability.
• Collaborating closely with front end developers to integrate server-side logic with user-facing features.
• Mentoring junior engineers and performing code reviews to ensure high-quality, secure, and maintainable software.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have at least six years of experience in back end development, ideally within a startup environment. We are looking for someone with a strong foundation in Python and Flask, along with deep expertise in PostgreSQL and Google Cloud Platform tools like Cloud Functions and Cloud Run. You should be comfortable using Postman and Pytest for testing and debugging. A degree in Computer Science or a related field is required. Beyond technical skills, we value candidates who are proactive, solution-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative scrum environment. You should have a solid grasp of microservices architecture, RESTful API design, and containerization, and you must be fluent in English to communicate effectively across our global team.
