Have you ever wanted to tell people that you helped launch the future of transportation? At Vay, we are completely rethinking mobility through remote driving. We provide a unique, by-the-minute car rental service that delivers vehicles directly to customers without a driver inside. Since our launch in 2018, we have built the world’s first commercial remote driving product and successfully rolled out vehicles on public roads in both Europe and the USA. With our fleet in Las Vegas scaling rapidly, we are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team in Germany on a full-time, hybrid basis to help us continue this journey.
What you'll be doing
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Golang, while managing cloud infrastructure as code and utilizing CI/CD pipelines for seamless deployments.
- Collaborate across teams with frontend, mobile, and embedded engineers to build end-to-end solutions that directly improve our customer experience and business operations.
- Take full ownership of your work by defining technical requirements, contributing to product vision, and ensuring the reliability and scalability of our distributed systems.
What you'll bring
To succeed in this role, you should be comfortable working in an English-speaking environment and possess the following qualifications:
- Strong experience in developing scalable backend services and APIs, ideally with Golang.
- A solid understanding of cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and event-driven messaging systems like Kafka.
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL, database optimization, and data modeling.
- Practical experience with DevOps practices, including infrastructure as code using Terraform and CI/CD workflows.
- Knowledge of Node.js and experience working within autonomous or mobility-focused industries is considered a significant plus.
