Senior Backend Engineer at Roofr

We are scaling rapidly and seeking a talented Senior Backend Engineer to help us build the most trusted roofing platform in the world. Roofr provides an all-in-one sales toolbox that empowers roofing professionals with aerial measurements and automated proposals, and we are looking for someone to help us shape our technical roadmap as we continue to grow.

Responsibilities

• Lead the evolution of our backend architecture to support our next phase of growth.
• Collaborate within a fast-paced, cross-functional team that prioritizes engineering excellence.
• Manage the full Software Development Lifecycle, from initial planning through to final delivery.
• Write clean, maintainable code for web applications and develop reusable libraries.
• Ensure system reliability by writing comprehensive unit, functional, and acceptance tests.
• Troubleshoot and provide ongoing support for our production applications.
• Work closely with team members to define technical requirements and solve complex problems.

Must-haves

• At least 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in PHP and the Laravel framework.
• A deep understanding of Agile methodologies and a passion for shipping code frequently.
• A proven ability to break down complex challenges into manageable, incremental solutions.
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to high-quality documentation.
• A proactive mindset toward improving engineering culture and technology.
• Experience navigating the unique priorities and challenges of an early-stage company.
• Fluency in English.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with DevOps practices.
• Background in Big Data, Data Science, or Machine Learning.
• Knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems).
