Senior Backend Engineer at Getsafe

Getsafe is a digital insurance leader that simplifies life for over 500,000 customers through our all-in-one app and unique technology platform. We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our platform team in Germany, where you will help build the scalable architecture that empowers our engineering organization to innovate and grow.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a scalable system architecture that supports our expanding customer base and product portfolio.
• Develop and maintain core libraries, internal tools, and observability solutions that help other engineering teams ship features efficiently.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code while championing engineering best practices across the company.
• Create reusable solutions to streamline processes, such as load testing, database management, and automated authorization.
• Collaborate with our Information Security team to ensure compliance during audits.
• Research and propose new technologies to improve our overall system efficiency and development speed.

Must-haves

• At least 5 years of experience in backend development, specifically working on complex systems and platform-level solutions.
• Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails and a deep understanding of high-quality software design.
• Proven ability to build tools and libraries that support multiple cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical visions into actionable plans.
• A quality-driven mindset focused on delivering well-tested, reliable, and maintainable software.
• Fluency in English, as our operations and support are conducted entirely in this language.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior experience working within fintech environments or fast-paced startups.
