The opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer II to join our team in Germany. This is a full-time, on-site role where you will report directly to our VP of Engineering as you grow toward a Staff Engineer trajectory. You will serve as a technical leader and strategic architect, working across domains to evolve our backend systems. Your work will be central to our AI initiatives, as you design resilient architectures that allow our platform to integrate cutting-edge capabilities seamlessly. You will not just be writing code, but also making high-impact technical decisions, mentoring other senior engineers, and setting the engineering standards that will guide our organization for years to come.

A day in the life

• You will architect and drive the development of scalable, distributed systems that ensure high performance, reliability, and security for our applications.
• You will lead strategic engineering initiatives across multiple teams, making critical architectural decisions that balance immediate business needs with long-term technical vision.
• You will design and optimize cloud-native infrastructure using AWS serverless technologies and EKS, ensuring our systems remain cost-effective and highly available.

Who you are

You are a seasoned engineer with over 10 years of experience, possessing deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud-native development. You have a proven track record of scaling AWS serverless architectures in production environments. You are highly proficient in the Node.js and TypeScript ecosystem, including NestJS, GraphQL, and both PostgreSQL and DynamoDB. You possess strong communication skills, allowing you to influence technical decisions and translate complex concepts for various stakeholders. You thrive in fast-paced startup environments where you can balance technical excellence with ambitious business goals. Fluency in English is required for this role.
