Senior Backend Developer at Paymenttools

The role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join one of our agile scrum teams on a full-time basis. This is a senior-level position based in Germany, offering a hybrid work environment. You will play a pivotal role in evolving our core payment infrastructure, focusing on everything from secure data management to the development of scalable services that power modern payment methods.

Core responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure, high-performance microservices within our Google Cloud environment to support millions of transactions.
• Take full ownership of features through the entire lifecycle, including technical design, implementation, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
• Develop robust, well-documented APIs that provide reliable integration points for our internal teams and external partners.

Skills and experience

We are looking for someone who brings a strong technical foundation and a passion for building elegant, reliable systems. You should have:

• At least 7 years of professional backend engineering experience, preferably in high-throughput or regulated industries.
• Deep expertise in Java or Kotlin, along with Spring Boot and modern microservice architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• A solid understanding of CI/CD practices, API design, and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Fluency in English, which serves as our primary working language.
