Senior Backend Developer at Staxxer

At Staxxer, our mission is to make complex European VAT, compliance, and accounting tasks incredibly simple for e-commerce businesses. We are building a sophisticated platform that automates OSS 2.0, EPR, and financial reporting, turning what looks like a single click for our users into a powerful, scalable engine that processes millions of transactions across borders. Since 2021, over 1,500 European sellers have relied on our technology to manage their operations. We are growing rapidly and are looking for someone to help us refine our high-volume, data-driven systems.

The role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a remote position available to candidates based in Europe. You will play a critical role in designing and maintaining the backend architecture that keeps our platform reliable and performant as we scale.

Core responsibilities

• Design and manage complex backend domains, ensuring our logic remains robust and maintainable.
• Perform data modeling and performance tuning to ensure our systems can handle high-volume transaction processing.
• Translate intricate regulatory requirements into clean, scalable code that maintains high standards for compliance and accuracy.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in building production-grade systems where precision is paramount. We value candidates who possess the following:

• Proven experience with Symfony or similar backend frameworks.
• Deep understanding of data modeling, performance tuning, and database migrations.
• Experience working with financial logic, such as ledgers or transaction processing.
• A systemic approach to problem-solving, with the ability to anticipate the impact of architectural decisions on a large scale.
• Professional proficiency in English and Dutch.
• A history of working on systems where errors have a direct impact on compliance and financial outcomes.

Compensation and benefits

We offer a competitive salary between €65,000 and €84,500 per year, depending on your background and experience. In addition to the salary, you will enjoy:
