Senior Backend Data Engineer at NOWATCH

What is this role?

We are looking for a Senior Backend Data Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a senior-level position based in the Netherlands, offering a hybrid work environment. You will play a critical role in designing and maintaining the infrastructure that powers our health technology, ensuring our systems remain robust, scalable, and secure while handling sensitive data.

What will you do?

• Design and optimize high-performing microservices and APIs to ingest and process data across our product ecosystem.
• Lead the development of high-throughput data pipelines using modern streaming and batch processing frameworks like Kafka, Spark, and Flink.
• Architect secure data solutions by implementing advanced encryption, anonymization techniques, and audit logging to ensure full compliance with GDPR and HIPAA standards.

What makes you a great fit?

To succeed in this role, you should have over three years of professional backend development experience, including at least one year focused on large-scale data engineering. We value candidates who are fluent in English and possess the following technical expertise:

• Expert proficiency in Python.
• Strong operational knowledge of AWS and its managed services.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools, specifically Docker and Kubernetes.
• Deep understanding of database optimization for both PostgreSQL and NoSQL environments.
• A privacy-by-design mindset, with a solid grasp of data security principles and regulatory frameworks.
