About the role
Have you spent time working with a data lake and are looking to work with the pioneer in the Data Lakehouse industry? Are you passionate about data driven insights that facilitate product and growth team decision making? Do you like to bring together data pipelines in pursuit of driving business decision making? Are you excited by the challenge that comes with putting together many pieces of a technical puzzle? Do you like to manipulate data for dashboarding and reporting? When people come to you for help, are your instincts to ask “what can I do to move the needle?”
If you answered yes to these questions then this role is right for you. You will be accountable for designing, developing and deploying the tooling, systems and ancillary services to empower Dremio decision makers around product direction and how to drive growth. This means you will be responsible for data pipelines into the Data Lake, data availability and quality of the Data Lake and reporting and dashboarding coming out of the Data Lake. Some teams you work with will be able to self service with empowerment, other teams will prefer to request outcomes based on a JIRA system. You will be empowered to find opportunities to capture more data in pursuit of a higher degree of observability of the behavior of our users. You will engage with everyone from C-Suite / VPs to Account Executives and Support Engineers to understand needs and drive pipeline integrations and data availability to meet these needs.
What you'll be doing
- Engage with stakeholders to understand, document and prioritize data driven decision making needs.
- Collaborate cross functionally to deploy necessary tracking / analytics tools to support data needs.
- Create and maintain data pipelines adhering to semantic layer best practices for internal Data Lake.
- Configure, deploy and maintain integrations with popular tools such as GitHub and Slack.
- Support pipeline development in response to internal data, analytics and requests that come through JIRA.
- Establish, document, communicate and create Wiki on dashboarding and reporting dimensions
- Respond to internal requests that come through JIRA and provide feedback to the Director on patterns.
- Seek opportunities for innovation to further empower our decision makers and mature our Lakehouse.
- Create Dashboards on product telemetry, user activity, pipeline health, documentation usage, etc.
- QA Dashboards and Reports against the raw data and partner with Data Lake owners to ensure accuracy.
- Provide direct support to those individuals who would like to be self-service through slack channels.
What we're looking for
- Minimum of 7 years experience:
- Designing and implementing data pipelines in a multi source cloud environment using python
- Maintaining the data source feed architecture in a big data and/or analytics environment / team.
- Report and Dashboard creation optimized and informed by data pipeline architecture.
- Working with AWS cloud based storage and process including technical troubleshooting.
- At least 5 years of demonstrated experience and expertise with SQL and Python
- At least 3 year of experience working with tools like FiveTran, Stitch or equivalent.
- At least 3 years hands on and troubleshooting Tableau both Desktop and Web.
- At least 2 years working with product analytics data solutions like Intercom, Heap and Google Analytics.
- Excellent project management skills with a proven track record of cross-functional impact.
- Experience with ticketing systems (JIRA), communication tools (Slack), repository systems (GitHub).
- Proven ability to work and multi-task under pressure, respond quickly to changing situations in complex project environments, and prepare responses/narrative quickly and clearly.
