We are a fast-moving technology company building intelligent systems that power autonomous retail environments across hundreds of stores. Our Scene Understanding Team develops the computer vision and 3D reconstruction capabilities that let our platforms understand physical spaces in real time, and we are looking for an experienced engineer to guide that work.
What is this role?
This is a full-time, remote Senior AI Systems Engineer position. You will lead technical efforts on our Scene Understanding Team, guiding both research translation and production system development at a senior level.
What will you do?
- Lead the design and development of scene understanding systems that calibrate spaces containing hundreds of cameras, including state-of-the-art 3D reconstruction and semantic segmentation methods.
- Translate emerging computer vision research into scalable, maintainable engineering systems while managing scene calibration technologies through backlog refinement, stakeholder communication, and roadmap collaboration with product managers.
- Partner with other technology teams to deploy, monitor, and support Scene Understanding Services across hundreds of stores, while mentoring engineers and promoting best practices in software development and project management.
What makes you a great fit?
You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field and bring at least six years of software engineering experience, including extensive work in Python. You have proven experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs, OpenAPI, gRPC, and Protobuf, and you have successfully interfaced with AI projects focused on computer vision and geometry in production environments. Strong leadership, communication, and management skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively in a fully remote setting. Experience with asynchronous processes, containerized applications using Kubernetes and Docker, Azure, multi-view stereo technologies such as Colmap, SLAM or Structure from Motion, MLOps, and autonomous retail or similar fast-paced domains is highly valued. Proficiency in English is required.
