We are looking for a Senior Accessibility Software Engineer to strengthen the team behind Envision’s public health software suite, which supports federal, state, and local agencies across the country and around the world.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and unit-test updates to existing features as well as new modules in our immunization information system products.
- Implement user-interface changes primarily with C#, JavaScript, and the .NET framework.
- Handle database work using T-SQL and SQL Server 2019 or later, writing stored procedures or working through Entity Framework.
- Ensure all web applications comply with Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards.
- Perform accessibility testing and remediation with tools such as AXE, JAWS, and WAVE.
- Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and security.
- Incorporate automated testing using frameworks like Jasmine, Jest, or Playwright.
- Create technical documentation for new and updated components.
- Provide architectural guidance on web technologies including Bootstrap, jQuery, and Knockout.
- Collaborate with customers and teammates on technical designs, issues, and testing activities.
Must-haves
- Five or more years of web application development experience.
- Four or more years working with C# and the .NET 4.x or later Framework, including .NET Core, MVC, and WebForms.
- Three or more years of hands-on JavaScript development.
- Three or more years working with client-side technologies such as HTML5 and CSS.
- Two or more years of T-SQL or Entity Framework development.
- Two or more years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 or later.
- Four or more years using Microsoft Visual Studio or VS Code.
- At least one year of native Azure cloud development experience.
- Practical experience applying 508 compliance, WCAG 2.1 guidelines, and ARIA roles.
- Familiarity with accessibility testing tools such as AXE, WAVE, JAWS, or NVDA.
- Understanding of the full web-application life cycle, including requirements gathering, documentation, and testing.
- Solid grasp of object-oriented programming and design principles.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Clear written and spoken English communication.
- Self-motivated learner who stays current with new technologies and industry trends.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and deliver high-quality results on schedule.
Nice-to-haves
- Multi-tier application development experience.
- Serverless cloud architecture experience.
- API development using Azure API Gateway, OpenAPI, Swagger, or Azure Front Door.
- Infrastructure-as-Code experience.
- Hands-on work with Azure monitoring and management tools such as Application Insights, Azure Monitor, or Azure Workbooks.
- Knowledge of Azure best-practice frameworks including the Cloud Adoption Framework and Well-Architected Framework.
- Shift-left practices covering security, observability, testing, and documentation.
- Experience with documentation and modeling approaches such as the C4 Model or arc42.
