Security Engineer at Moderntreasury

Are you ready to help build the most trusted financial infrastructure for global money movement? At Modern Treasury, we act as the operating system for payments, providing companies with the APIs and dashboards they need to unlock new revenue and streamline their financial workflows. We are currently looking for a Senior Security Engineer to join our team and help us protect our expanding payment infrastructure as we move into new territories, including stablecoins and emerging technologies.

What you bring

This Full Time role is based in our San Francisco or New York offices. You will sit at the intersection of security, infrastructure, and payments engineering, ensuring that our systems remain resilient as we scale. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Strengthening the security foundation of our payment infrastructure to ensure safe money movement at scale.
• Developing strategies to reduce fraud, prevent abuse, and protect customer data across traditional and emerging payment rails.
• Collaborating with engineering teams to embed security and compliance into our products without hindering development speed.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with at least 7 years of security engineering experience, including a minimum of 2 years specifically within the payments industry. You should possess deep expertise in AWS security, PCI DSS compliance, and secure API design. A strong background in securing full stack applications, including frontend frameworks and backend systems, is essential. We value candidates who have experience with infrastructure as code, such as Terraform, as well as those familiar with CI/CD security practices. You must be proficient in English and possess a data-driven mindset, allowing you to balance rigorous security requirements with the need for engineering velocity. Familiarity with NACHA rules, fraud prevention, and risk controls will set you apart as a top candidate for this position.
