Our technology protects over 2 billion accounts worldwide by thwarting threats like ransomware, account takeovers, and online fraud. We are a team of problem-solvers working at the forefront of the cybercrime economy, and we are looking for someone who shares our passion for security and innovation to join us in Austin, Texas.
What is this role?
We are seeking a Security Data Engineer to join our team on a contractor basis. This is a mid-level position that requires you to be based in the Austin area, as this is an on-site role. You will report directly to our Data Analysis Manager and play a vital role in building the tools we use to parse, transform, and analyze critical security data.
What will you do?
- Develop and maintain the code used to analyze recaptured data while managing our weekly ingestion processes.
- Create and support Python-based automation for our parsing platform and build out Jupyter Notebooks for data analysis.
- Collaborate with our team to design and improve our existing codebase and innovative data systems.
What makes you a great fit?
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in Python development and a genuine interest in cybersecurity. We are looking for someone who brings the following skills and qualities:
- Three to five years of professional experience with Python and a solid grasp of computer science fundamentals like algorithms and data structures.
- Proficiency with Linux, bash scripting, and regular expressions.
- Experience building data solutions, utilizing ETL patterns, and working with both relational and NoSQL databases.
- Hands-on experience developing within Jupyter environments.
- A self-directed and curious mindset, with a strong desire to automate repetitive tasks and the ability to adapt to changing business needs.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
It is a bonus if you have experience with AWS services, version control systems like Git, or building REST APIs. Please note that we are not currently sponsoring visas for this position.
What's in it for you?
Joining SpyCloud means becoming part of a mission-driven company where your work directly disrupts cybercrime. You will have the opportunity to work with a modern tech stack, including AWS, Python, and Linux, while growing your career in a supportive and inclusive environment. We pride ourselves on our collaborative culture where we tackle serious challenges while having fun together.
