Search Architect at Editorialist YX

We are Editorialist YX, a company dedicated to building a unified search platform that powers our website, iOS app, and internal support tools. Our search technology serves thousands of customers every day and is a critical component of our infrastructure as we scale our operations by 30x year over year.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical direction for our search team and manage key projects from the initial concept through to final deployment.
• Collaborate closely with business and technical leadership to define and execute our search strategy.
• Design and maintain scalable, highly available distributed systems capable of managing large volumes of data.
• Analyze and resolve complex production issues while providing thorough design proposals.

Must-haves

• At least 4 years of professional experience working with Java and Web Services.
• Minimum of 4 years of specialized experience within the Search domain.
• Proven ability to build distributed systems that prioritize high availability and scalability.
• Strong grasp of fundamental software engineering principles, including data structures and algorithms.
• Solid knowledge of concurrency, multi-threading, design patterns, and effective debugging methodologies.
• Practical experience with Elasticsearch or Solr Cloud.
• Deep understanding of information retrieval concepts and linguistic processing techniques, such as tokenizers, stemmers, and spellers.
• Excellent communication skills for conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Fluency in English.

Nice-to-haves

• Hands-on experience with big data technologies, including Hadoop, Hive, Cassandra, and Spark.
