At Shrapnel we are building a new kind of game platform that blends world-class gameplay with player-driven creation and true digital ownership. Our team brings deep experience from leading game studios and platform development, and our mission is to open that creative space to players everywhere so they can collaborate, build, and share in the results.
The role
We are hiring a Senior SDET to work across both our game and platform teams in a full-time, hybrid capacity. In this role you will design and build the test infrastructure that keeps quality high while development moves quickly, and you will help shape how our engineering and QA groups work together.
Core responsibilities
- Identify, design, and deliver technical solutions such as frameworks, automated tests, API hooks, and supporting tools that raise test coverage and lower the cost of running tests.
- Define and track quality metrics, analyze results to spot patterns, and communicate risk status to development partners so product decisions are grounded in data.
- Mentor engineers and analysts, provide technical guidance to individuals and teams, and maintain a steady rhythm of collaboration with technical leads, product owners, and development groups.
Skills and experience
We are looking for someone with strong programming skills in C++ and/or Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Unreal Blueprints. A bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience is required, along with at least five years working as a QA engineer, SDET, software engineer, or similar role focused on quality. You should bring deep knowledge of regression, acceptance, functional, and load testing, plus hands-on experience building automation frameworks, test harnesses, and QA-focused tools. Experience with performance and stress testing, CI/CD pipelines, and 3D game engines such as Unreal or Unity is essential. Familiarity with both agile and waterfall methodologies, plus development across web, PC, mobile, console, and backend services, will help you succeed. Because this role spans games and web projects, prior work in both areas is highly valued.
Compensation and benefits
The base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000 - $180,000 plus equity in the form of stocks and tokens. In addition to competitive pay, we offer hybrid work flexibility, visibility into business strategy, autonomy within your role, and the chance to collaborate with a tight-knit group of experienced teammates in a vibrant city environment.
How to apply
If this mission and the work described above align with your background and interests, we encourage you to apply. We review every application and look forward to learning how you could contribute to Shrapnel.
