Rackspace is looking for a Rubrik Storage and Backup Engineer
We are looking for a Lead Rubrik Storage and Backup Engineer to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity. As a key member of our support infrastructure at Rackspace, you will provide high-level technical expertise to our customers, ensuring the stability and security of their complex storage environments while delivering our signature fanatical support.
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of complex customer issues, diagnosing and resolving problems while maintaining clear communication throughout the process.
- Manage storage configurations, including software installation, LUN and volume provisioning, host zoning, and registration.
- Oversee team-level KPIs and queue health while coaching team members to develop their technical skills.
- Perform end-to-end troubleshooting for NAS protocols, Windows DFS, Active Directory, and host-side connectivity.
- Coordinate with data center and network security engineers to execute hardware upgrades, deployments, and performance tuning.
- Conduct regular audits of array logs, performance metrics, and system health to ensure data accuracy and environment stability.
- Schedule and manage maintenance activities, such as storage OS upgrades and data migrations, in collaboration with account teams and vendors.
- Investigate and resolve daily backup failures and errors within the Rubrik environment.
Must-haves
- At least 15 years of experience in storage and Fiber Channel switch environments.
- Hands-on technical proficiency with Rubrik, Pure Storage, Dell PowerStore, PowerScale, Qumulo, and Brocade Fiber Channel switches.
- Expert knowledge of storage and backup methodologies, including performance tuning and testing.
- Strong understanding of VMware, Windows, and Linux operating systems, along with file systems and networking concepts.
- Experience working within enforced change and risk control environments.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical details clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Relevant storage certifications.
- A BE or B.Tech degree, or equivalent professional experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Prior experience in healthcare storage and backup administration.
- Specific experience with Dell Insight IQ, SyncIQ, and Rubrik Security Cloud.
- Proficiency in using Python and PowerShell for automation and virtual machine deployment.
