RF Engineer at Karman+

We are Karman+, a space startup dedicated to mining near-Earth asteroids to create a sustainable future for space and Earth. We are looking for an experienced RF Engineer to join our team in Broomfield, Colorado, and take full ownership of our spacecraft communications systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of communications systems, from initial design and development to integration, testing, and final deployment for interplanetary missions.
• Make autonomous technical decisions regarding system architecture, design trade-offs, and risk management.
• Troubleshoot complex system issues during integration and testing phases.
• Collaborate across teams, including software, structures, and systems engineering, to ensure seamless mission integration.
• Manage vendor relationships and component procurement while maintaining supply chain oversight.
• Ensure all systems comply with spectrum regulations, licensing requirements, and operational standards.
• Maintain thorough documentation for all designs, testing protocols, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to continuously improve system performance and reliability.

Must-haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proven experience in communication or RF engineering for spacecraft applications.
• Proficiency with industry-standard design and simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, CST, or HFSS.
• Strong expertise in link budgets, modulation techniques, signal integrity, and RF fundamentals.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, and balance technical requirements with schedule constraints.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to meet U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including ITAR requirements.

Benefits

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 to $130,000.00.
