At CarbonCapture Inc., we are dedicated to the urgent mission of decarbonizing our atmosphere. We develop and deploy advanced direct air capture machines that function in large arrays to pull significant volumes of carbon dioxide from the air. Our unique approach utilizes a patented modular open systems architecture, which enables us to achieve rapid technology iterations, mass production, and unlimited scalability through a plug-and-play design. We are looking for passionate individuals to help us push the boundaries of climate technology.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Research Scientist to join our team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will focus on the development, characterization, and testing of sorbent materials. You will be instrumental in advancing our direct air capture technology by designing and optimizing innovative materials that directly improve the efficiency, stability, and scalability of our systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and synthesis of novel sorbent materials aimed at capturing CO2 from ambient air while optimizing their regeneration efficiency and adsorption capacity.
- Perform comprehensive material characterization using advanced analytical techniques like BET, TGA, FTIR, DSC, and DVS to evaluate chemical and physical properties.
- Design and execute lab-scale experiments to validate sorbent performance, analyzing the resulting data to ensure long-term stability and effectiveness under diverse conditions.
Requirements
- A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 5 years of professional experience specifically in sorbent development and testing, ideally with a focus on CO2 capture.
- Deep expertise in surface chemistry, material synthesis, adsorption processes, and experimental design.
- Proficiency in using analytical tools such as TGA, FTIR, BET, DVS, and DSC.
- Proven experience conducting both lab-scale and pilot-scale testing of materials.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to communicate complex technical data to various stakeholders.
- A genuine passion for developing sustainable technologies and addressing the challenges of climate change.
Location
This position is based in the United States and requires an on-site presence.
