The role

We are seeking a Relief Event Chef to join our team on a temporary basis. This is a mid-level position perfect for professionals who value flexibility, whether you are looking to supplement your income on your days off or need a role that fits around other personal commitments. You will work on-site in various environments, ranging from bustling professional kitchens with large teams to unique, bespoke setups in marquees and private venues.

Core responsibilities

• Prepare and finish a diverse array of dishes, including formal plated meals, buffets, fine dining, and casual menus.
• Manage specific sections or stations within the kitchen during busy service periods.
• Oversee the setup, breakdown, and deep cleaning of kitchen areas while maintaining strict adherence to health and hygiene standards.

Skills and experience

To succeed in this role, you should be a hardworking and reliable chef who thrives in an all-hands-on-deck environment. We require the following qualifications and attributes:

• Formal training with a relevant qualification, such as an NVQ level 3, 7061/2, or an equivalent certification.
• Proven experience working within quality kitchens that utilize fresh ingredients.
• The ability to adapt quickly to new menus and work effectively at short notice.
• Strong hospitality focus and excellent time management skills.
• A positive attitude and a willingness to assist with all aspects of event catering.
• Ideally, you will have your own transport to navigate between various locations in the Dundee area.
• Fluency in English is required for clear communication in fast-paced kitchen environments.

Compensation and benefits

We offer competitive pay for our relief chefs, with hourly rates typically ranging from £11 to £17 per hour. This translates to an annual equivalent salary range of 29,000 to 45,000 GBP, depending on your availability and the specific requirements of the events you support.
