Chelsea Avondale is a global leader in home insurance, utilizing advanced risk modeling and proprietary pricing technology to reshape the insurance industry. Our organization includes our Skynet Software engineering division and Max Insurance, our property and casualty company, and we are currently seeking a Reliability Engineer to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity to help us scale our infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and design AWS cloud environments to support our growing business needs.
- Develop monitoring and alerting systems using Python to ensure rapid incident response.
- Work alongside cross-functional teams to improve the overall stability and performance of our services.
- Configure and deploy infrastructure on AWS while adhering to industry best practices.
- Perform root cause analysis after incidents to implement long-term solutions and prevent recurrence.
- Manage capacity planning and optimize our services for maximum scalability and security.
- Create high availability and disaster recovery strategies to protect our data and ensure system resilience.
- Support network engineering tasks, including the management of firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, and LANs.
Must-haves
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least one year of experience in a Reliability Engineering role, though we welcome applications from highly motivated new graduates.
- Practical experience managing AWS cloud resources like CloudWatch and EFS.
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Experience with NGINX for caching, load balancing, and reverse proxy management.
- Competence in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and administration for both Unix and Windows Server environments.
- A solid understanding of web technologies, including DNS, SSL, and web servers.
- Familiarity with standard web development workflows, such as deployment and source control.
- Fluency in English.
Nice-to-haves
- Practical experience with load testing and pen testing.
- Background in implementing security measures for cloud-based resources.
