At Terraline, we are reimagining the future of heavy transport by building the first clean-sheet, battery-electric truck designed for both human and autonomous operation. With a goal of exceeding 500 miles of range, our team leverages deep expertise from the autonomous and electric vehicle sectors, including significant experience with Tesla and Waymo Class 8 trucks. We are a cross-functional group of engineers, designers, and technicians working together to disrupt the industry through innovation and a hands-on approach.
The role
We are seeking a Senior Prototype Technician Fabricator to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in the United States. This is a critical role for someone with extensive experience in high-level fabrication who wants to help us build the next generation of electric powertrains and full-scale vehicle prototypes. You will operate as a subject matter expert, guiding junior team members while maintaining the independence to deliver complex projects from concept to completion.
Core responsibilities
- Construct and deliver functional prototypes, ranging from small mechanical assemblies to full-scale vehicle builds and advanced powertrains.
- Collaborate across engineering disciplines to troubleshoot and debug systems, ensuring all prototypes meet rigorous performance standards.
- Manage shop equipment and prototype resources while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workspace to support our fast-paced development cycles.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong background in building complex hardware and a passion for solving problems from first principles. We require the following qualifications:
- At least 5 years of professional experience as a fabricator or technician, specifically with large-scale projects like vehicles, ships, or aircraft.
- Deep technical knowledge of electric powertrains and propulsion systems.
- Proven ability to translate sketches and ideas into functional mechanical and electrical prototypes.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to document objectives and provide clear status updates to both technical and non-technical partners.
- A high school diploma is required, though an Associate degree or technical certification from an accredited automotive institution is preferred.
- Comfort working in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly.
Compensation and benefits
We believe in supporting our team members and their families through a comprehensive benefits package. Our offerings include:
- High-quality medical, dental, and vision insurance with employer contributions.
- Employer-paid group term life insurance.
- Employer-paid short-term and long-term disability coverage.
- 401(k) retirement plan with a company match.
- Generous paid time off, including vacation and federal holidays.
How to apply
If you are ready to help us build the future of trucking and thrive in a hands-on environment, we want to hear from you. Please submit your application to be considered for this position. We are an equal opportunity employer and are happy to provide reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities throughout the interview process.
