At Terraline, we are building the first clean-sheet, battery-electric heavy truck designed for both human and autonomous drivers, with a range exceeding 500 miles. Our team leverages decades of industry expertise from projects like the Tesla and Waymo Class 8 trucks, and we are looking for a Senior Prototype Technician / Fabricator to join our on-site team in the United States to help bring these next-generation vehicles to life.
Responsibilities
- Construct and deliver functional prototypes ranging from small mechanical assemblies to full-scale vehicle builds and advanced powertrains.
- Support prototyping efforts across all engineering disciplines, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to exact specifications.
- Act as a subject matter expert as our team expands, providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff.
- Collaborate across functional teams to define objectives, document progress, and communicate status updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Debug and troubleshoot complex issues with prototypes and testing equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment while adhering to all safety protocols.
- Operate with a hands-on, flexible mindset, occasionally taking on diverse tasks to help the team meet its goals.
Must-haves
- At least 5 years of professional experience as a fabricator or technician, specifically with large-scale prototypes like vehicles, ships, or aircraft.
- Proven expertise in both electrical and mechanical fabrication.
- Experience working with electric powertrains and propulsion systems.
- Demonstrated ability to translate sketches and concepts into physical, working prototypes.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Nice-to-haves
- An Associate degree or technical certification from an accredited automotive institution.
- Recent experience within the automotive or trucking industries.
- Background in managing external suppliers for large-scale prototyping projects.
- Experience supporting testing campaigns, both locally and in the field.
- Possession of a commercial driver license.
