We are currently seeking a Protocol Research Lead to guide our research efforts and help us become the premier scaling solution for Ethereum.
Key outcomes
- Lead, manage, and expand our world-class, globally distributed research team.
- Conduct original research on Ethereum and Layer 2 design, covering topics such as rollup economics, state growth, MEV, PBS, AA, and Layer 3 solutions.
- Propose innovative designs and optimizations for our protocol and contribute to Ethereum through EIP proposals.
- Bridge the gap between research and engineering by keeping our technical teams informed on the latest developments.
- Represent Scroll at industry conferences and events.
- Produce high-quality content, including blog posts and research papers, to share our findings with the community.
- Cultivate collaborations with external researchers and academic institutions to address complex open problems.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional experience in a research role within the crypto or web3 space.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience leading a team of at least two researchers.
- Deep familiarity with Ethereum infrastructure and Layer 2 scaling solutions.
- Proficiency in reading and writing academic papers, along with the ability to propose and navigate EIPs.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex cryptographic research to engineering teams.
- Technical fluency in programming languages such as Golang, Rust, or C++.
- A strong alignment with our values of open source collaboration, credible neutrality, and community-driven development.
- The ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of communication.
Preferred qualifications
- Prior experience in cryptography or the development of blockchain infrastructure.
