At Defense Unicorns, we believe that software should act as a strategic deterrent. We are a team of innovators, engineers, and veterans dedicated to streamlining software delivery so our customers can focus on their most critical missions. By building secure, cloud-native solutions, we help federal and private sector partners integrate technology with speed and confidence. We are looking for a passionate leader to join our product team and help us clear the path for the missions that matter most.
The opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to take radical ownership of products that make a tangible impact. You will report directly to the Director of Product and oversee two distinct, high-impact areas. One team focuses on a foundational open-source tool, while the other manages cloud-scale infrastructure and the tooling required to make that infrastructure easily consumable. This is a fully remote role that requires a blend of technical depth, business strategy, and a genuine passion for national security.
A day in the life
- You will define and own the end-to-end product vision, ensuring that our roadmap aligns with both business objectives and the needs of our diverse customer segments.
- You will collaborate closely with engineering teams to balance technical trade-offs, manage delivery expectations, and synthesize external feedback into actionable development plans.
- You will serve as a bridge between technical teams and stakeholders, clearly communicating our value proposition and objectives to everyone from individual engineers to executive leadership.
Who you are
You are a seasoned professional with a strong background in Product Management and a deep interest in the intersection of business, open-source software, and security. You thrive in fast-paced, remote environments and bring the following expertise to the table:
- A solid technical understanding of infrastructure as code, Kubernetes, platform tooling, and various cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.
- Experience working with open-source infrastructure management tools and an understanding of the unique needs of open-source communities.
- Proven ability to manage products using Agile methodologies while maintaining clear communication across technical and non-technical teams.
- Proficiency in using modern collaboration and management tools such as GitHub, Notion, and Hubspot.
- A commitment to continuous learning, keeping pace with industry trends in DevOps, regulated IT, and the CNCF community.
Why you'll love it here
We offer a competitive salary range of $135,286 to $175,500 USD, determined by your experience and national benchmarking. Beyond the compensation, we provide a comprehensive benefits package designed to support you and your family:
- Health and Wellness: Full medical, dental, and vision insurance with 100% company-paid premiums, plus life and disability insurance.
- Financial Security: A 401k retirement plan and stock options to help you grow with us.
- Work-Life Balance: Unlimited paid time off, including mandatory holiday breaks and generous parental leave.
- Support and Growth: A dedicated home office budget and tuition reimbursement for approved training and conferences.
We are committed to building a diverse team. If you are enthusiastic about our mission but do not meet every single qualification listed, we still encourage you to apply. You might be exactly who we are looking for.
