We are building mission-critical infrastructure that moves money at scale. Astra’s platform handles billions in annual transaction volume with 99.9 percent uptime and supports real-time transfers, bank debits, card disbursements, and complex compliance workflows. Through APIs and automation tools, we enable businesses to execute payments programmatically while meeting strict regulatory requirements.
We are seeking a Staff-level Product Lead to take full ownership of our payments product surface. In this individual-contributor role you will define the direction for payment rails, transaction flows, and the developer experience that supports them. You will work directly with our leadership team and a small but growing product group, setting priorities, aligning engineering, compliance, and operations, and delivering outcomes on one of our most revenue-critical offerings.
Key outcomes
- Own end-to-end product responsibility for Astra’s payments rails, including Visa Direct, Mastercard Move, RTP, FedNow, ACH, and stablecoin, from API contract through settlement and reconciliation.
- Define and improve the complete transaction lifecycle-authorization, clearing, settlement, dispute handling, and exception management-while meeting regulatory and network requirements.
- Design developer-facing payments primitives such as API contracts, payload schemas, error surfaces, and webhook specifications that serve sophisticated fintech builders.
- Build and refine multi-rail routing logic that selects, falls back, and optimizes across rails based on speed, cost, and risk parameters.
- Integrate payments compliance considerations, including Reg E implications, network rule adherence, and AML or sanctions workflow requirements, into product decisions.
- Identify capability gaps, evaluate emerging network features, and develop net-new monetization opportunities for each rail.
- Partner closely with payment operations and engineering on incident response, degraded-rail scenarios, and SLA commitments.
Requirements
- Six or more years of product management experience, including at least three years building payments products at infrastructure, fintech, or card-network depth.
- Hands-on experience with at least two of the following: ACH, RTP or FedNow, Visa Direct or Mastercard Move, card issuing or acquiring, or stablecoin rails.
- Deep familiarity with the transaction lifecycle-authorization, clearing, settlement, and disputes-and the operational mechanics that support each step.
- Experience applying regulatory and network rules such as Reg E, NACHA operating rules, or Visa and Mastercard network rules to product requirements.
- Strong API product instincts demonstrated by shipping developer-facing payment APIs and maintaining high standards for developer experience.
- Proven ability to operate independently at the individual-contributor level, setting direction without managerial oversight.
- Exceptional written communication skills, with the capacity to translate complex payment flows into clear, precise specifications.
- Demonstrated success influencing engineering, compliance, and operations teams without direct authority.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience at a banking-as-a-service provider, card network, sponsor bank, or payments infrastructure company.
- Familiarity with stablecoin settlement rails such as USDC or USDT and their interaction with traditional fiat rails.
- Background in chargeback lifecycle mechanics, dispute reason codes, or VCR workflow design.
- Prior work on multi-rail routing or smart payment orchestration logic.
Compensation
We offer competitive compensation that includes equity in a growing fintech company. Additional benefits include remote work with flexible location options and professional development opportunities in compliance and risk management.
How to apply
If this opportunity aligns with your experience and interests, we invite you to submit your application. We look forward to learning more about how you can contribute to Astra’s mission.
