Fox Robotics is the industry leader in warehouse automation, specializing in autonomous forklifts that help people accomplish more while improving workplace safety and efficiency. As we scale our team from 90 employees toward a much larger future, we are looking for a Product Designer to join us on-site in Austin, Texas, to help us continue making robots that truly work.
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the look, feel, and usability of our autonomous forklift products.
- Conduct user research and develop personas by visiting customer warehouses to observe how our technology is used in the real world.
- Create conceptual designs, information architecture, and interaction flows for both physical forklift interfaces and digital web or mobile services.
- Develop wireframes and mockups to validate designs through testing.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical and software engineers to ensure designs are functional, safe, and cost-effective.
- Refine designs based on production limitations, customer feedback, and technical feasibility.
- Present your design concepts and reports to customers to secure approvals and discuss necessary modifications.
Must-haves
- A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Information Technology, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in design and prototyping.
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and engineers, to implement innovative solutions.
- Strong background in creating mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate design concepts.
- Experience with visual design and layouts for both web and mobile platforms.
- Practical experience with user research techniques, such as discovery interviews, usability testing, and survey design.
- Proficiency in English and the ability to travel domestically up to 10% of the time.
