About Us
Gather AI is a supply chain robotics company founded by the PhDs from Carnegie Mellon’s Robotics Institute who created the world’s first provably-safe autonomous helicopter. We have developed an Inventory-as-a -Service platform where fully autonomous drones collect warehouse inventory data at a press of a button.
This is an essential problem to solve as the warehouses we serve have typically misplaced over 10% of their inventory worth $10+ million dollars (seriously!). Their current manual techniques for taking inventory are falling down due the e-commerce boom brought on by COVID, and made worse due to the labor shortage and 70% annual staff turnover. Our drones take inventory 15x faster than humans with over 95% accuracy. We deliver this data through our web dashboard, which acts as a DVR for their warehouse where they run their inventory operation. We are the leader in this new market with proven technology. Our drones are live in a dozen warehouses and have scanned over 150k pallet locations.
We are a pure-software robotics company and our key innovation is the world’s only autonomy and machine learning engine that can solve this problem with commodity hardware in GPS-denied environments. That means we avoid all of the hardware development pitfalls of traditional robotics companies and we can scale 10x faster. The robotics industry is starting to enter its “Google era,” and we are leading the charge.
About the Team
Working as a member of the Product team at Gather AI, you will work across different functions to bring new features and experiences to life in a way that delights new and existing customers. You will have the opportunity to participate in prioritization decisions, research, and the end design that gets implemented, all while in a fun and fast paced environment where collaboration and trying new things is highly valued. You will work with stakeholders across the company and collaborate especially closely with talented engineering teams.
What You'll Do
Reporting to the Director of Product as the Product Designer you will:
- Serve as the primary designer in the company, working closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to create intuitive designs that solve customer problems in a delightful way and align to the goals of the business. You will take designs from low fidelity mockups all the way to high fidelity prototypes, and collaborate with engineers to ensure effective implementation.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to advocate for user-centered design principles. Act as a strategic partner, providing valuable insights and recommendations throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Oversee and participate in all phases of the user research process, including user recruitment, study design, data collection, analysis, and reporting. Utilize various qualitative and quantitative research methods, such as usability testing, surveys, interviews, and competitive analysis, to gain deep insights into user needs and behaviors.
- Champion positive user experience principles throughout the company and set the standard for elevating products through user-centered design.
- Periodically travel and visit customers in their work environments, understanding and empathizing with their lives and how our product can improve their day. Translate those observations into product opportunities.
- Work with go-to-market team stakeholders to produce marketing materials and visual designs that support GTM motions (such as website and sales collateral).
What You'll Need
- A degree in a design-related field (HCI, interaction, visual), or comparable work experience.
- 5+ years of product design experience, with experience in designing for data-centric products
- Experience designing for desktop and ios applications
- A curiosity for how business, social, technical and behavioral factors impact the UX across the user journey inside and outside the product UX.
- A passion to influence the product team, drive the design process and product strategy, and communicate design ideas persuasively and concisely to all functions of the organization, including executives.
- A pro at implementing quality design across all surfaces.
- You’re a great teammate who likes to have fun while getting things done!
Bonus points for...
- Experience designing for products that operate both in a physical space and digital space.
- Experience in designing and maintaining design systems
- Experience with the basics of warehousing operation
