At EcoCart, we are on a mission to make sustainability simple and accessible for online retailers everywhere. As a climate technology leader, we help brands reduce their carbon footprint and offset unavoidable emissions, effectively preventing greenwashing while building consumer trust. We are a tight-knit, remote-first team of 20 people who are passionate about building products that make a real-world impact. If you want to join a fast-growing company where your work directly fights climate change, we would love to have you on board.
Role at a glance
We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. This is a senior-level role for someone who thrives in a startup environment and is ready to take our product to the next level. You will be based anywhere across the United States, Canada, or Latin America, working with a team that values speed, collaboration, and meaningful innovation.
Your impact
- Take the lead on building a brand-new product from the ground up, moving quickly to ship and iterate on core features.
- Balance your time between hands-on development and technical leadership, including mentoring our engineering team and guiding our hiring efforts.
- Champion architectural best practices to ensure our systems remain secure, scalable, and reliable as we grow.
What you'll need
We are looking for a 10x engineer who brings a maniacal bias for action and a deep understanding of the full stack. You should be comfortable navigating technical trade-offs and have a strong philosophy on how technology serves business goals.
- At least 7 years of professional experience in full-stack development, with a strong focus on frontend work.
- Proven expertise using React and TypeScript for interfaces, alongside Node.js or Python for backend systems.
- Practical experience working with Shopify or similar e-commerce platforms.
- A track record of architecting systems from 0 to 1 within a startup setting.
- Fluency in English and a broad knowledge of database systems and software architecture.
- Bonus points for experience with AWS infrastructure or a background in climate tech.
Perks and compensation
The salary range for this position is $190,000 to $240,000 USD, with specific adjustments based on your country of residence within the Americas. We believe in transparency and will discuss the exact compensation for your location during the interview process.

- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance options.
- 401k retirement plan.
- Series A equity.
- Unlimited PTO and paid parental leave.
