What you bring

We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our team in Australia on a full-time, hybrid basis. In this lead-level role, you will drive the architectural modernization of our platform to ensure scalability and support rapid innovation across our product teams. Your work will be central to the evolution of the Opal Suite, and you will collaborate closely with engineering managers and technical leads to maintain high standards of excellence.

• Lead large-scale architectural transformations within cloud-native and microservice environments.
• Set engineering standards and patterns that span multiple domains and products.
• Mentor engineers on system design and technical strategy while balancing hands-on coding with high-level leadership.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is a seasoned engineer with over 10 years of experience who thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment. You should possess a deep understanding of distributed systems, workflow orchestration, and high-performance APIs. We value candidates who are proficient in Python, Rust, or Go, and who have a strong grasp of DevOps practices, including CI/CD and infrastructure as code. While a physics background is not required, a genuine curiosity and drive to learn about quantum technologies are essential. You should be an exceptional communicator capable of articulating complex trade-offs to both technical and executive stakeholders.
