Forward Financing is a Boston-based fintech company dedicated to providing fast and flexible capital to small businesses that are often overlooked by traditional lenders. We are a 100% employee-owned organization with a mission to help our customers reach their full potential, and we are currently seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead our third-party data strategy and drive innovation within our engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Act as a technical leader for a scrum team, ensuring the scalability, reliability, and quality of our third-party integration infrastructure.
- Provide mentorship and sponsorship to engineers to improve overall software application quality and individual efficiency.
- Manage cross-team planning for complex features that span multiple scrum teams.
- Champion technical excellence and serve as a subject matter expert for our software ecosystem.
- Maintain high engagement across teams, address incidents promptly, and remain accessible during core business hours.
Must-haves
- Extensive experience in technical leadership, mentorship, and sponsorship.
- Expertise in designing and implementing complex systems using modern programming languages such as Golang, Python, Java, or TypeScript.
- Strong project management skills and a background in Agile software development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence others.
- A demonstrated passion for continuous learning and professional development.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- A mature sense of ownership and accountability in all professional tasks.
