At ZEDEDA, we are working to make edge computing effortless, open, and secure by bringing the cloud experience directly to the edge. Our team focuses on reducing the costs and complexities associated with managing distributed infrastructure, providing a platform that offers visibility and control at scale. We leverage an open architecture built on EVE-OS from the Linux Foundation and support thousands of nodes for our customers. We are currently looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a hybrid role based in our San Jose office, where you will help us design and maintain the orchestration platform that powers our edge solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of large-scale Kubernetes-based orchestration systems to manage containerized applications across our edge infrastructure.
- Architect and maintain core components including Kubernetes operators, controllers, schedulers, and custom resource definitions to ensure system scalability and reliability.
- Drive the implementation of automation, continuous integration, and continuous deployment processes to optimize the lifecycle management of our workloads.
Requirements
We are looking for a seasoned engineer with a strong background in systems-level development. You should possess the following qualifications:
- At least 15 years of software engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on work specifically with Kubernetes architecture and internals.
- Proficiency in Go and a deep understanding of how to extend Kubernetes functionality using APIs, operators, and custom resource definitions.
- Practical experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with the broader Kubernetes ecosystem, including tools like etcd, Helm, and Istio.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with open-source orchestrators or contributions to the Kubernetes community is highly valued, as is a formal Kubernetes certification.
What we offer
We believe in fostering a supportive and inclusive culture where our team members can thrive. As part of our commitment to our employees, we provide the following:
- Hybrid work flexibility to help you balance your professional and personal life.
- The opportunity to solve complex, high-impact problems in distributed systems alongside a world-class team.
- A collaborative environment driven by our core values of being courageous, considerate, candid, curious, and collaborative.
