We are Marker Learning, and we are on a mission to make learning disability assessments, such as those for dyslexia, more affordable and accessible for families and schools. With one in five students facing learning disabilities, we recognize that a proper evaluation is a life-changing event. Unfortunately, high costs and limited access to qualified psychologists mean only a small fraction of students receive the diagnosis they need. Our team is solving this by using proprietary technology to complete evaluations in a fraction of the time required by traditional methods. We are a rapidly growing, mission-driven startup backed by reputable venture capital firms and education non-profits. We are currently looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join us on a full-time, remote basis to help us scale our platform and improve outcomes for students everywhere.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of our technical vision by making strategic architectural decisions that align with our long-term business goals.
- Develop and maintain a scalable architecture roadmap while implementing review processes to consolidate workstreams and eliminate redundancy.
- Mentor our engineering teams to raise the technical bar and foster a culture that prioritizes clear ownership, efficient workflows, and incremental execution.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- At least 8 years of experience in system design and a proven track record of technical leadership.
- Deep expertise in cloud architecture, specifically within GCP, as well as containerization and distributed systems.
- Practical experience working with AI architectures, document processing pipelines, and complex system integrations.
- Strong product intuition with the ability to balance rapid development speed against long-term code quality.
What we offer
We believe our team members are the most important part of our mission, and we are committed to building an inclusive, supportive environment where you can do your best work. As part of our commitment to our employees, this role offers the flexibility of remote work.
