At Fivetran, we are dedicated to making data access as simple and reliable as electricity for thousands of organizations. We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to lead the architecture and development of our Data Lake product, ensuring our customers have seamless, queryable access to their data.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with product teams to design and implement innovative capabilities for our users.
Lead the development and operation of large-scale, high-reliability data lake systems.
Solve complex challenges related to performance, scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability.
Drive technical direction and influence cross-functional teams to maintain operational excellence.
Contribute to open-source projects and integrate industry-standard toolsets into our platform.

Must-haves

Over 10 years of experience with large-scale, data-intensive distributed systems, including work with query engines, object storage, and data warehouses.
Advanced proficiency in Java and C++.
Deep expertise in infrastructure optimization, performance engineering, and columnar storage formats.
Proven success in leading and delivering complex, large-scale technical projects.
Strong experience working with public cloud environments like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Excellent communication skills in English and a collaborative mindset that helps elevate the entire team.

Nice-to-haves

An MS or PhD in Computer Science, particularly with a focus on storage engines or database management.
Familiarity with Postgres, gRPC, and Temporal.
