We are looking for a Principal .NET Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. At Versapay we turn accounts receivable into a competitive advantage by automating B2B payments and connecting finance teams, customers, and business systems in one ecosystem. With more than 10,000 customers and over 110 million transactions representing $257 billion processed each year, our platform removes friction from cash flow so companies can grow with clarity and control. In this role you will take meaningful ownership of critical payment services, modernize our infrastructure for greater scalability and security, and help shape the technical direction of a platform relied on daily by finance leaders around the world.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve core payment services that support online card-not-present transactions, device-based EMV payments, digital wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay, and payment-facilitator orchestration flows.
- Modernize existing components into cloud-native, distributed architectures using containers on AWS or Azure while expanding capabilities for international, multi-currency, and cross-border payments.
- Strengthen platform reliability by improving CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions, advancing test automation across domain logic and external integrations, and enhancing observability, fault tolerance, and automated operational workflows.
Requirements
- Typically 10 or more years of professional engineering experience with expert-level proficiency in C#, .NET, and SQL.
- Deep experience in payments, including online payments, EMV device-based transactions, digital wallets, payment-facilitator and orchestration flows, bank-account rails such as ACH/EFT, and international or multi-currency payment flows.
- Proven success modernizing production financial systems into cloud-native, distributed architectures, along with familiarity using modern observability tooling to monitor distributed systems.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, demonstrated by working effectively with Product, Security, Compliance, and Operations teams and representing engineering to non-technical stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience with several of the following: ISO 8583 transaction messaging, ISO 20022 data models, DUKPT key management, Hardware Security Modules, EMV payment kernels, RESTful API design, asynchronous messaging, event-driven architecture, AWS or Azure, containerization, CI/CD automation, PCI-DSS compliance, encryption, tokenization, and secure coding practices.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality.
