Principal ML System Engineer at PointClickCare

We are looking for a Principal ML System Engineer to join our team and lead the technical strategy for our machine learning platform at PointClickCare. You will work within a specialized, centralized team to build scalable, high-impact AI and LLM solutions that empower engineering teams across our entire organization.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to translate business goals into a long-term technical roadmap for our ML platform.
• Design reference architectures and standards for data and ML pipelines, covering the full lifecycle from model training to deployment and serving.
• Establish company-wide MLOps best practices, including model registries, feature stores, and CI/CD workflows for machine learning.
• Develop frameworks for the observability, reliability, and performance monitoring of production ML systems.
• Create secure infrastructure patterns that integrate with our existing data sources and APIs while maintaining strict compliance and access controls.
• Mentor senior engineers and provide technical leadership to elevate our organization's capabilities in building robust ML infrastructure.

Must-haves

• Expert proficiency in Python and Java, supported by strong software engineering fundamentals.
• Extensive background in designing and building large-scale ML platforms and MLOps workflows.
• Hands-on experience with industry-standard tools such as MLFlow, Kubeflow, and Ray.
• Deep knowledge of cloud environments including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Proven expertise in containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
• A track record of driving technical initiatives and setting architectural direction across multiple teams.

Nice-to-haves

• A degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Familiarity with Azure Machine Learning, Databricks, and serverless processing environments.
• Experience implementing security at scale, including network security, multi-factor authentication, and role-based access control.
• A history of leading the development of critical cross-team systems.
• Experience optimizing the cost and performance of large model training and LLM inference.
