We are looking for a Principal Machine Learning Engineer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis. At Zus, we are building a shared health data platform that makes patient information accessible through APIs, embedded components, and direct EHR integrations. Founded in 2021 by Jonathan Bush, we partner with health information exchanges to aggregate clinical history and translate it into actionable insights at the point of care. Our mission is to empower healthcare inventors to build better solutions by maximizing the value of patient data.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and refinement of machine learning models, with a specific focus on large language models and innovative algorithmic approaches.
- Implement and manage MLOps practices to automate workflows, build CI/CD pipelines, and ensure our models are reliable, scalable, and monitored effectively in production.
- Partner with product managers and healthcare providers to identify opportunities for innovation, developing and testing prototypes that directly improve the experience for clinicians.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional experience in machine learning, specifically in model development and MLOps, with a preference for candidates who have worked with large language models.
- Strong proficiency in Python, Java, or Go, alongside a deep understanding of frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, as well as familiarity with natural language processing techniques.
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistical Science, or equivalent practical experience, with advanced degrees considered a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
