Are you passionate about using technology to ensure every person with a mental health or substance use condition feels heard? At Marigold Health, we are building an asynchronous-first treatment program that empowers peers to support one another through 24/7 anonymous chat groups. We are currently scaling our platform to reach more patients nationwide, and we are looking for a dedicated leader to help us shape the future of our virtual care model. We invite you to join our mission-driven team and make a tangible impact on the lives of those who need it most.
What you bring
As our Principal Engineer, you will take ownership of our technical strategy, security protocols, and existing codebase. This is a full-time, remote position that can be performed from anywhere in the U.S., though you will need to coordinate synchronously with our international engineering team. Your role involves bridging the gap between high-level architectural vision and hands-on implementation to ensure our platform remains scalable, secure, and reliable.
- Provide technical leadership by guiding our distributed engineering team and serving as a subject matter expert.
- Oversee the architecture and design of complex systems to ensure high performance and maintainability.
- Lead our security initiatives by implementing best practices and mitigating potential risks across our platform.
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate who combines deep technical expertise with a collaborative, mission-focused mindset. You should have 4 to 9 years of industry experience, including at least 2 years in a lead role and 1 year within the healthcare technology sector. A strong understanding of U.S. healthcare regulations, such as HIPAA and HITRUST, is essential. We value individuals who are proactive, organized, and capable of communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. While not required, experience with our preferred stack-including TypeScript, Node.js, React, and Next.js-is highly beneficial. Above all, we seek someone who is curious, patient, and ready to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment.
What we offer
We are committed to providing a supportive environment where your work directly contributes to saving lives and improving care for underserved populations. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, data scientists, and peer workers.
- The flexibility of remote work.
- The chance to contribute to a first-of-its-kind treatment model.
- Professional growth through involvement in a rapidly expanding, mission-driven startup.
How to Apply
If you are excited about the prospect of building technology that transforms mental health care, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application to begin our interview process. We review all submissions carefully and will reach out to schedule an initial conversation if your background aligns with our current needs. We are eager to meet you and explore how you can help us scale our impact.
