What is this role?
We are looking for a Principal Engineer to join our Architecture team with a specific focus on our payments domain. This is a full-time, senior-level position available to candidates based in Colombia. You will work in a remote capacity, shaping the technical direction of our payments infrastructure while providing high-level guidance to our engineering teams.
What will you do?
- Lead the architectural strategy for our payments platform, establishing engineering standards and best practices.
- Design and implement secure, scalable, and resilient payment solutions that support our global platform requirements.
- Provide technical mentorship across the organization, helping teams navigate complex challenges related to system performance, microservices, and operational reliability.
What makes you a great fit?
You are a seasoned engineer with deep expertise in payment systems, including integrations with gateways and acquirers. You have a strong background in distributed systems and microservices, and you are comfortable balancing immediate delivery needs with long-term architectural health. You communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and possess a strong command of English. We value experience with cloud platforms, specifically AWS, and familiarity with tools such as Kotlin, Java, DynamoDB, MySQL, Terraform, and Gitlab. If you have experience in transit payments or card schemes, that is a significant plus.
