We are looking for a Principal Engineer to join our team in a hybrid capacity, where you will help shape the future of our assets by championing innovation and our commitment to a low-carbon economy.
Responsibilities
- Act as a courageous safety leader by upholding and promoting all environmental and safety protocols.
- Direct project teams in identifying initiatives that eliminate hazards and introduce sustainable, safer solutions.
- Serve as a primary resource for implementing our Safety and Sustainability through Design standard across our project portfolio.
- Assess project performance regarding safety and sustainability, establishing clear metrics and corrective actions.
- Oversee design review activities, including HAZOPs, HAZIDs, plant layout, and safety integrity assessments.
- Manage and nurture relationships with specialist contractors, consultants, and technical service providers to ensure alignment on safety principles.
Must-haves
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field, with registration or eligibility as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia.
- Over 15 years of experience in process or design safety within major infrastructure, mining, or process plant projects.
- At least 10 years of specific experience in the sustainable design of major mining or infrastructure plants.
- Deep proficiency in hazard identification and mitigation methodologies.
- Proven experience in project design and site engineering.
- Strong background in project management systems across various execution phases.
- Excellent communication, report writing, and technical presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport, facilitate discussions, and work collaboratively with diverse teams.
Nice-to-haves
- Previous experience working as an owner at a major mining company.
- Experience working as an owner's team representative or for an EPCM contractor within the resource industry.
