At Eikon Therapeutics, we are pioneering a new era of biopharmaceutical research by merging chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology. Our discovery platform is rooted in the work of our Nobel Prize winning founders, who developed advanced microscopy techniques that allow us to observe protein movement within living cells in real time. By unlocking these previously inaccessible drug targets, we are working to develop life-saving treatments for serious diseases. We are looking for mission-driven individuals who want to apply their technical expertise to solve complex biological challenges.
The role
We are seeking a Principal Engineer, Data Integration to join our multi-disciplinary engineering team on a full-time, hybrid basis. This is a senior-level position for a hands-on leader who enjoys both high-level architectural strategy and diving into technical execution. You will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between our research, engineering, and IT departments by coordinating how we represent and integrate drug discovery metadata across our internal and external systems.
Core responsibilities
- Develop a holistic vision for the organization, integration, and querying of our massive, heterogeneous data stores.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with senior engineering and IT leaders to design extensible, robust, and maintainable solutions that support our research and product business lines.
- Define high-level roadmaps for data deliverables by working closely with project management to ensure our systems meet defined business needs and user requirements.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong background in software engineering and a passion for architectural design. We require the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree with 15 years of experience, a Master's degree with 12 years of experience, or a PhD with 8 years of experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Expertise in multiple programming languages, specifically Python and C++.
- A proven track record in system architecture, including API and database design, cloud services, and DevOps practices.
- Experience with distributed systems and machine learning concepts is highly valued.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical trade-offs for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Compensation and benefits
The salary range for this position is $226,000 to $247,000, depending on your specific skills and market expertise. In addition to a competitive base salary, we offer bonus and equity compensation along with a comprehensive benefits package:
- Medical insurance with 95% of premiums covered, plus dental and vision insurance with 100% of premiums covered.
- 401k plan with company matching.
- Generous paid time off, including weeklong summer and winter holiday shutdowns.
- Mental wellness budget and life insurance coverage.
- Hybrid work environment with a daily subsidized lunch program when on-site.
How to apply
If you are a seasoned engineer excited about the intersection of technology and biotechnology, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application through our official portal. We are an equal opportunity employer and look forward to reviewing your qualifications as we continue to build our team.
