Principal Embedded Software Engineer at Third Pole, Inc.

At Third Pole, we are dedicated to making life-saving Nitric Oxide inhalation therapy accessible to newborns and adults facing respiratory challenges across the globe. Our team is currently developing innovative technology that generates Nitric Oxide on demand from the air we breathe. We are looking for a Principal Embedded Software Engineer to join our fast-paced, collaborative, and mission-driven startup on a full-time, on-site basis. Responsibilities

• Partner with our systems engineering team to translate high-level requirements into robust product architectures, making informed decisions on hardware and software partitioning.
• Design and implement software and firmware using C and C++ within RTOS environments, while adhering to industry best practices and internal quality standards.
• Conduct advanced risk analysis using FMEA and fault tree methods, collaborating across disciplines to verify solutions and ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as ISO 13485 and FDA requirements.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Software or Electrical Engineering, with a Master’s degree preferred.
• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering, specifically focused on the design and development of complex, software-driven electromechanical Class II or Class III medical devices.
• Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory standards, including ISO 13485, ISO 14971, ISO 62304, and FDA QSR 21 CFR Part 820.
• Proven ability to act as a creative problem solver with strong leadership skills and the capacity to work independently in a high-energy environment.
