What is this role?

We are seeking a Principal eCommerce Engineer to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity. This is a lead-level position for an experienced professional who is ready to take ownership of our headless eCommerce platform. You will serve as the hands-on technical lead, guiding our development team, designing robust solutions, and elevating the purchasing experience for our customers on Hydrow.com.

What will you do?

• Design and build immersive, lightning-fast eCommerce experiences using modern headless and serverless architectures.
• Provide technical leadership by defining the architectural direction for our direct-to-consumer sales channel.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and developers to prioritize and implement high-impact features that optimize site performance and customer conversion.

What makes you a great fit?

You are a passionate engineer who loves to code and stays current with the latest trends in frontend architecture. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can translate complex technical requirements into clear, actionable plans. To succeed in this role, you should have the following qualifications:

• At least 4 years of professional experience building and maintaining high-traffic, full-stack web applications.
• Deep expertise in Shopify or similar backend services within a headless environment.
• At least 2 years of professional experience with React frameworks like Next.js.
• Strong proficiency in API integration, SEO principles, and modern frontend practices, including responsive design and accessible user interfaces.
• Experience with analytics, tag management tools, and data layer events.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical trade-offs to business stakeholders.
