What is this role?

We are seeking a Principal Data Engineer to join us on a full-time, on-site basis in Canada. This is a senior-level position for someone with extensive experience in large-scale data storage and analysis. You will be responsible for defining our data architecture, guiding engineering teams through complex technical challenges, and setting the standards for our data engineering excellence.

What will you do?

• Lead architectural decision-making for our data engineering efforts, ensuring that all systems are scalable and aligned with our long-term technical strategy.
• Design and develop robust data systems while maintaining high-quality documentation to ensure the long-term maintainability of our projects.
• Mentor and train less experienced engineers, review code contributions, and establish testing strategies to prevent operational incidents.

What makes you a great fit?

You should be an expert in software and system architecture with a deep understanding of the full software development lifecycle. We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications:

• At least 10 years of experience in large-scale data storage and analysis.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and Java, along with extensive experience in SQL and NoSQL databases like PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Strong hands-on experience with cloud-based data processing, Docker, Kubernetes, and RESTful API services.
• Excellent communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.
• A background in AAA game studios or multinational technology startups is highly valued.
