At Vendia, we are building a powerful, multi-cloud distributed data platform that allows enterprises to share and manage operational data in real-time. As a minority-owned startup backed by 50 million dollars in funding, we are led by industry veterans who helped pioneer serverless computing, and we are looking for a Principal Backend or Core Engineer to help us scale our mission-critical systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and build the server-side architecture that powers our real-time, distributed data platform.
- Collaborate with product and design teams to shape the vision of our offerings and build tools that help customers manage massive data volumes.
- Drive engineering excellence by implementing robust CI/CD workflows, automation, security protocols, and performance optimization strategies.
- Ensure the scalability, availability, and fault tolerance of our multi-tenanted systems while mentoring team members as we grow.
Must-haves
- At least 8 years of professional software development experience in distributed systems with direct operational ownership.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Rust, Python, Go, or C#.
- Practical experience with NoSQL databases and serverless cloud services like AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and AWS Cognito.
- A strong track record of managing 24/7 services, including on-call responsibilities and diagnosing performance issues.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to plan, execute, and deliver high-quality projects.
Nice-to-haves
- Prior experience working within a fast-paced startup environment, particularly with enterprise SaaS or infrastructure services.
- Specific expertise in building or maintaining distributed database systems.
- A background in designing features for highly available, large-scale distributed architectures.
Benefits
The salary range for this full-time position is $160,000 - $210,000 per year, depending on individual qualifications and experience.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- 401k retirement plan.
- Generous paid time off policy, including paid holidays and a winter break.
- Home office setup stipend.
- Hybrid work environment with a preference for candidates near the Seattle metro area.
