What is this role?
We are hiring a Principal Architect to join us full time in a remote capacity. This is an executive-level position where you will report directly to the CTO and serve on the Engineering Executive team, shaping the long-term technical direction of our platform.
What will you do?
- Define and lead our architectural strategy, ensuring the platform remains scalable, reliable, and high-performing as we grow.
- Drive initiatives that reduce technical debt, introduce new technologies, and keep our technical roadmap aligned with business goals.
- Mentor engineers across the organization, guide technical reviews, and maintain high standards for documentation and code quality while spending roughly a quarter of your time contributing directly to the codebase.
What makes you a great fit?
You bring at least twelve years of software engineering experience, including three or more years leading architectural decisions across a large product or organization. You have deep expertise in distributed systems and cloud infrastructure, with a strong preference for AWS, and you are comfortable working in Ruby or Python. Front-end familiarity with React and TypeScript, along with event-driven patterns using Kafka and container orchestration on Kubernetes, will help you collaborate effectively with our teams. Beyond technical skill, you excel at explaining complex ideas, influencing without formal authority, and making pragmatic trade-off decisions grounded in real-world constraints. You value clear communication, cross-functional partnership with product and design, and the opportunity to elevate those around you.
What's in it for you?
This role offers a base salary range of $200,000 - $300,000 USD.
