The role

We are searching for a Principal AI Search Engineer to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. This is a lead-level position designed for an experienced builder who thrives at the intersection of large-scale data, artificial intelligence, and user experience. You will be responsible for architecting our search infrastructure from the ground up, moving from initial concept to a scalable product that serves major publisher partners.

Core responsibilities

• Design and build our AI-driven search engine from inception, ensuring it is ready for production scaling across multiple partners.
• Define the long-term technical roadmap for our search capabilities while mentoring a high-performing team of engineers.
• Collaborate with our product and engineering departments to integrate advanced retrieval, ranking, and recommendation technologies into our existing ecosystem.

Skills and experience

To succeed in this role, you should be a hands-on engineer with a proven track record of building and scaling search or retrieval systems. We are looking for the following qualifications:

• Deep expertise in AI-powered search methodologies, including the use of LLMs, vector databases, embeddings, and retrieval-augmented generation.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, along with practical experience using Docker and microservices.
• A solid understanding of indexing, ranking architectures, and query processing.
• Experience working in fast-paced environments, ideally within world-class AI or search organizations.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a cross-functional, collaborative setting.

Compensation and benefits
