Principal AI Engineer at Grip

Grip is an AI-powered, end-to-end event platform that transforms how commercial event organizers like Ascential, Hyve, and Emerald manage participant engagement. By combining a sophisticated event management system with AI-driven insights, we help our clients foster meaningful connections and track interactions across multiple events. We are currently at an exciting inflection point where we are using AI to turn raw interaction data into intelligent, autonomous agentic products. We are looking for a Principal AI Engineer to join our team and own the data foundations and AI infrastructure that power our entire platform.

What you'll be doing

• You will own the platform-wide data architecture, including setting standards for data modeling, storage, governance, and serving layers used across the entire organization.
• You will design and build the robust data infrastructure that powers our analytics, search, recommendation engines, and our new suite of agentic products.
• You will scale high-volume data pipelines, managing both batch and streaming processes to ensure reliability and low latency for all platform consumers.

What you'll bring

To succeed in this role, you should have a strong background in engineering, event management, and data architecture. We are looking for someone who possesses the following skills and experience:

• Extensive experience with Postgres, MongoDB, and Redshift for managing operational and analytical data.
• Deep technical expertise in AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform to manage our infrastructure and deployment processes.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and experience with Kinesis and Elasticsearch to handle data streams and search functionality.
• A strong commitment to observability and system health using tools like Datadog.
• Excellent communication skills in English, as you will be mentoring engineers and driving technical strategy across various teams.
