Role at a glance
We are seeking a Senior PostgreSQL Contributor to join our open source development team on a full-time basis. This is a remote position, meaning you can contribute from the comfort of your home office anywhere in the world. You will work directly with the upstream PostgreSQL community to build features and resolve complex issues, ensuring our distribution remains the gold standard for enterprise users.
Your impact
- Design, implement, and document technical improvements for PostgreSQL and its related components.
- Take ownership of root cause analysis for critical defects and develop robust test cases for our continuous integration pipelines.
- Represent Percona within the global PostgreSQL developer community by submitting patches, participating in design reviews, and sharing your expertise through blog posts and conference talks.
What you'll need
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience in software development, specifically with database server or distributed system internals.
- Deep technical proficiency with PostgreSQL internals and standard developer tools like GCC, Git, and GDB.
- Strong scripting skills in Perl and Shell.
- Experience managing projects using tools like Jira and Notion.
- The ability to communicate clearly and effectively in fluent English.
- A self-motivated mindset with a proven ability to thrive in a globally distributed, remote environment.
- Bonus points if you are already an active contributor to open source projects or have experience as a technical speaker.
