At Tailscale, we are reimagining the internet by creating software that makes connecting people and devices secure and straightforward. Whether they are hobbyists or part of a multinational corporation, our users rely on us to protect their networks and manage internal access with ease. Since our founding in 2019, we have operated as a fully distributed team backed by industry-leading investors like Accel and CRV. We are looking for a senior-level Platform Engineer to help us build a future for the internet that feels as safe and sensible as it used to be.
What you'll be doing
- You will design and build core backend software components while collaborating closely with your fellow engineers.
- You will take ownership of features related to user identity, including the development of authentication flows for SSO, OAuth2, SAML, and OIDC.
- You will analyze our system resources to improve overall stability, scalability, and efficiency while setting quality standards for our engineering projects.
What you'll bring
- Strong professional experience working with distributed systems and SQL databases.
- Deep familiarity with authentication and authorization frameworks, specifically OAuth2, OIDC, SSO, and SAML.
- A solid understanding of networking fundamentals, such as routing and IP addressing.
- Proficiency in the Go programming language, which powers the majority of our backend systems.
- The ability to work independently in a remote environment, provide constructive feedback, and adapt to the fast-paced nature of an early-stage startup.
- Fluency in English to communicate effectively with our global team.
What you'll get
We offer a competitive base salary ranging from $181,000 to $226,000 USD. In addition to your compensation, you will receive the following benefits:
- Equity compensation to ensure you share in our success.
- Comprehensive vision and dental insurance plans.
- The freedom of remote work with flexible hours to help you manage your work-life balance.
- Generous paid time off to recharge.
- Dedicated support for your professional development.
